History Loves The MO State Fair
The very first Missouri State Fair was held in 1901. After many bids from Centralia, Chillicothe, Marshall, Mexico, Moberly, and Sedalia– Sedalia, MO won the majority vote and thus our long history of an agriculturally rich fair began. Fast forward a few years to 1917 and you find yourself inside the picture below.
Look closely towards the bottom middle and you’ll notice the dates advertising none other than our Missouri State Fair. This large display was the perfect advertisement for the fair for all train goers passing by. Today, that same spot is used as the parking lot of the original train station, and overflow for Lamy’s on the weekends!
MO State Fair loves FOOD
It’s no secret that thousands of people travel thousands of miles to central Missouri for something fried and on a stick every August. Is there any better way to enjoy the fair?! Probably not. But, when the crowds get too large and the sun gets too hot, we kind of enjoy serving up the best menu in the midwest, complete with cool air and ice-cold drinks.
Whether you’re thinking of a lunch of leisure at our Ox Horn Market or something a little more upscale in the No. 5 Bistro, we are here to serve. If you’re craving that lunch fried and smothered in powdered sugar, we have ya covered with our special twist on a classic fave, the Monte Cristo. Melted brie, black forest ham, smoked applewood butter nestled in between two toasty pieces of our infamous French Toast…and topped with all the powdered sugar one can handle. Our only advice? Don’t wear black!
Food loves Company
I mean come on…you’re already covered in powdered sugar, let’s crank it up a notch with our “Build your Own Mimosa” bar. You pick the juice–cranberry or fresh-squeezed orange from Nourish — we top it off with a bottle of the good stuff! We’re kinda serious, friends. This ain’t your momma’s mimosa!
We recommend drinking with friends and lucky for you, no matter your preference, we’ve got you taken care of. Serving up iced cold lemonades, frosty beers, on-tap kombucha, and so much more! It’s your hot spot away from the scorching fair crazy. No need for the lines and the traffic. See you at Lamy’s where history loves company.
