History Loves Cocktails
It’s impossible to know for sure just how far back alcoholic beverages can be traced, but there is clear evidence that alcohol was around as far back as 5000 BC in other parts of the world. And on record, the first wine production dates back to 6000 BC.
During the Early Modern Period, Protestant leaders like Martin Luther, John Calvin and other leaders of the Angelican Church viewed alcohol as a gift from God to be used in moderation, for pleasure, enjoyment, and health. Drunkeness was viewed as a sin then, just as it is now in the Protestant Church.
For us in America, alcohol played a huge role in the development of the original 13 colonies as alcohol was much safer to drink than water back then. Because of the cost to import alcohol, settlers started to make and brew their own beer. These were consumed by both men and women at all times of the day.
Cocktails Loves No. 5 Bistro and Bar
“You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.” We aren’t sure who said it, but we’re here for and support this! It’s why we open for Saturday Brunch at 10am. Start your day the right way with Bottomless Mimosas and end it with a nightcap of our infamous Peach Old Fashioned. We highly recommend washing it all down with our weekly breakfast hash (changes every Saturday).
No matter what you choose to drink, the real stars at No. 5 Bistro and Bar is our bartenders. We hate to brag–wait–nah. It doesn’t bother us. Our bartenders kick ass and takes names. Pull up a seat, enjoy the libations and watch them do some work slinging drinks!
