History Loves Fashion 2000s
We’re wrapping up our history of Levi Strauss today. Yeah, we’re sad about it, too. But, it’s been a great journey that’s led us to where we are. We’re jumping right back in and the year is 2003. It’s a pretty landmark year for the brand as they launch their Signature brand. This was a pretty remarkable invention as Levis now became available to the masses when they originally were targeted for high-end, high-quality wear.
2013–EUREKA!
In 2013, Levi launched an innovative research and development facility known as Eureka! This facility was dedicated to designs, ideas, and building prototypes for the brand. This lab is still running today and is where all the new baby jean ideas are born.
2015–Let’s get Chemical, Chemical!
Levi Strauss led the way in the retail market by being one of the first brands that recognized toxic chemicals in the use of certain products. In the year 2000, they were one of the very first companies to issue a restricted substance list.
In 2013 they took it a step further by launching a Screened Chemistry Program, where the main goal was to understand the potential human and environmental impact of chemicals before they enter the supply chain and to find alternatives for anything deemed unsafe.
2015–I’m EVERY Woman!
The 700 Series jeans we love and know became available globally! Celebrate good times, come on!
2016–Open Sourcing
In 2016, Levi Strauss and Co. shared the wealth. Their innovative programs like the Screened Chemistry, Water<Less, and Worker Well-Being programs were opened to others in the industry in hopes of making a larger impact on our planet.
2017–Commuter Jackets Debut
Thinking of the urban commuter, and partnering with Jacquard by Google, a jacket is launched that allows you access to your music, navigation, and communication such as texting and calling with the swipe of a sleeve.
2018–Project F.L.X
Future Led Execution is the new digital finishing way of finishing jeans and will lead the world in production while always reducing the number of chemicals your jeans come in contact with. Now that right there is worth telling a friend about. After all, history loves company.
