History Loves Best

Everyone wants to be known for being the BEST at something, right? In our early days, and I’m talking, over 120 years ago, the world looked a lot different than it does now. Yet, being the best at something was still a goal for almost every human on the planet. In the late 1880s, East Coast College football reigned supreme. There was Yale, Princeton, Harvard…and everyone else.

There also was a love of reading inspired by some of the greatest novels written at that time that have certainly transcended time. Titles such as: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Heidi, The Prince, and the Pauper, and Pinocchio…just to name a few.

Fashion boasted the era of silhouettes, achieved through corsets and bustles, but as women moved towards the 1900s, the clothing allowed for more movement. What a treat to be in layers upon layers, basically bustled into your clothing in this mid-west heat!

Best Loves Now

Nowadays, the top rosters in football don’t name any of our Ivy League friends from centuries past. While the East Coast still boasts on a few names in college football, our friends to the South (SEC) and right here in the Mid-West (Big 12) tend to be the names we think about when talking best of college football.

The corsets and bustles are also a thing of the past (thank God), but the books? Those new books from the 1880s are now some of the most iconic books of all time. We are proud to offer many of these selections here at Josey Records.

But, what are we the BEST at? Well, according to a recent award, it’s our patio! Our patio is pretty damn awesome, we aren’t gonna lie. With heaters for those cool nights, a privacy fence so you can dine in peace, and some yard games to play while you sip cocktails, eat appetizers, and wait on your dinner…what’s not to love?

We are THRILLED that it’s patio season and we can’t wait for you to try our new summer menu on the best patio in town. Grab your friends, and round up your kiddos. Head on down to Lamy’s and see what the fuss is all about. After all, history loves company.
