History Loves Independence
It felt appropriate to go through a timeline of America’s history being that it’s 4th of July week!
July 8th, 1776–First effective celebration took place in Philadelphia. First pubic reading of the Declaration of Independence, after people were summoned by the ringing of the Liberty Bell.
July 3rd, 1781–Massachusetts became the first state to recognize the Fourth of July as an official holiday.
July 4th, 1801–The White House held its first Fourth of July party!
1866–J.A. Lamy Firm was established in Sedalia, MO.
June 28th, 1870–Congress made Independence Day an official holiday for federal employees who worked in Washington D.C.
1893–The Lamy’s building we still operate out of was built.
1938–Congress formalized Independence Day as an official paid federal holiday.
July 4th, 1960–The current 50-star flag debuted after Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1959.
July 2021–Lamy’s celebrates our Independence with a variety of RED, WHITE, and Blue!
July 2022–Lamy’s is gearing up again for another amazing celebration of our Independence! Join us for libations and liberty as we celebrate our FREEDOM all month long!
