History Loves Music
As far as history is concerned, the method of recording and production can be traced back to the 1870s with Thomas Edison’s invention of the phonograph. While the recordings were barely audible, they were still there and it was a start that changed the world forever.
In the early 1900s, records entered the music scene and for many years, they had no competition. However, at the end of the First World War, a bit of a blow to record companies landed with the invention of the radio. Fast forward to today where the evidence of our digital world is constantly surrounding us. Maybe it’s because of this fast-paced life that records have made such a widespread and popular comeback in the last 20 years.
Enter Josey’s. When we remodeled this building earlier last year, we knew that music and books needed to be a place inside these walls. Music is something that brings everyone together. Josey Records was love at first sight and we find that when the doors are open, there’s always someone listening, browsing, or reading inside these walls.
Music loves Rock, Country, Pop, R&B
We recently tried counting how many records we have and, well…let’s just say we didn’t get that far. There are thousands. We offer so many varieties of records in all the genres you know and love. Not only do we feature all of the newest releases, but we have hundreds of gently used records from all of the old classics as well. We know no matter if you prefer older Rock like Elvis, new Country like Ashley McBryde, or just those classic R&B albums like Boyz2Men, we’ve got you!
We do find it’s easier to browse the aisles with a cold glass of Kombucha or maybe even a pineapple soda from the Ox Horn Market. You’ll find lots of choices and varieties to wet your whistle while you shop. Head on in, grab yourself a drink, and maybe even a cake pop, and head on over to Josey Records. We’ll be waiting.
Rock, Country, Pop, R&B loves LIVE Entertainment
Is there anything better than LIVE music? If we ever questioned it, not being able to go to concerts for the past year or so has definitely reminded us just how great LIVE shows are! We are so pleased to periodically bring LIVE artists and bands to Lamy’s stage at No. 5 Bistro. Speaking of, THIS Saturday we feature the music of Ryan Manuel.
Ryan Manuel is a singer-songwriter based in Lawrence, Kansas. He got his start playing music in his hometown of Sedalia, Missouri after winning the 2011 MO State Fair Idol competition and has been playing shows around the Midwest and writing and recording music ever since.
Ryan has shared the stage with the likes of Whiskey Myers, Randy Rogers Band, William Clark Green, and many others. Since hitting the Kansas City music scene in 2012, Ryan has released a solo album “Kansas” and his band Ryan Manuel and the Getaway released their first full-length, self-written album, “On The Run.” Call us, make your reservations, and head on out. Don’t forget to bring a friend or two. After all, history loves company.
