History Loves Space
During our talk of remodeling the Lamy building, it was often a high topic of conversation that the entire building could be turned into apartments or office space. The same concern always arose that Sedalia may not be large enough to handle the addition of 50,000 square feet of apartments or office space at one time. That is when the concept for a multi-purpose remodel was born.
By doing apartments on the 3rd floor, office space on the 2nd floor, and retail on the first floor the design team was confident that we wouldn’t over saturate the market in any one area. That is indeed how we designed our building. When the addition of Southern Maven Boutique joined our space, along with a bigger start-up company renting out office space on the second floor, we soon reached capacity in our space inside Lamy’s. When that start-up expanded, that left us questioning what we would do to accommodate them.
Space Loves R & R (Retail & Restaurants)
As most of you know, who frequent our building on a regular basis, we made some big change at the beginning of this year. With one of our large tenants needing even more space, and the desire of another to move to the first floor, it made sense for all of us to move Southern Maven to the space that was previously occupied by the Ox Horn Market.
This change has been great, allowing us to serve the same delicious lunch menu from our No. 5 Bistro and Bar kitchen. This has also allowed all retail to be on the same floor, allowing you to enjoy that same lunch of leisure while being able to peruse Josey Records and Southern Maven before or after you dine on your favorite burgers, wraps, salads, and more.
If you haven’t been here to see our new changes, we invite you to step inside these walls full of history. Come alone and soak it in, but know that the Lamy life is better experienced with others. After all, history loves company.
