History Loves Staff

For the next couple of weeks, we’d love to highlight some of the friends, family, and staff that make up the Lamy family atmosphere. We are kicking off this series with Libby Swearingen. Libby is the wife of Reid Swearingen, son of John Swearingen–owner of Lamy’s. You can find Libby almost every time you’re at Lamy’s. Often she’s behind the bar or organizing new records at Josey, but for certain, she’s a favorite for many people who frequent Lamy’s.

Libby married into this crazy crew and so we thought it may be fun to hear what working at Lamy’s is like from her point of view. She assures us that the long hours and excellent food make it worth it. The offices have recently moved to the second floor where Southern Maven used to be (and where the old lunchroom was back in the factory days) and they all genuinely love it.

Libby loves that they are all in an open office where they can bounce ideas off of one another and that they are currently brainstorming the new spring and summer menus! The downside…Reid found a nerf gun and will not stop shooting her.

Libby Loves Food

Of course one of our questions for anyone working at No. 5 Bistro is, “What’s your favorite food?” Without hesitation, Libby let us know that her favorite menu item is the pork tenderloin. “I’m a huge sauce person and that sauce is damn good.” Don’t take her word for it…go get ya some!

One of her favorite times of the week is brunch and she swears that the biscuit board is worth the early mornings! What does she wash it all down with? A throwback beverage, of course. The dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed okra known as the Okrahoma is still her go-to. Feeling thirsty yet?

Libby Loves Music

Libby is obsessed with Lake Street Dive. Not familiar? You’re missing out. When you walk through floors of Lamy’s, chances are that you’re hearing their tunes play throughout the building and Libby says the same is true at home.

She loves that she’s been able to listen to albums she wouldn’t have otherwise if it wasn’t for Josey Records being right here in town. She recently picked up a random blues guitar compilation album and says it’s the perfect record to unwind to while sipping a cocktail each night. It gives her throwback vibes to her hometown of Memphis Tennessee. Of course, with guitarists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and B.B. King…how could it not be amazing?

We are so thankful for Libby and all she brings to the Lamy’s family. Stop by and say hey to her! She’s always down to chat and suggest the perfect pairings at dinner or let you listen to her favorite tunes at the listening station in Josey Records. Don’t come alone though. Libby and History both love company. 😉
