History Loves Trivia

Have you ever wondered where the idea of trivia came from? According to Wikipedia, in the 1960s, nostalgic college students and others began to informally trade questions and answers about the popular culture of their youth. The first known documented labeling of this casual parlor game as “Trivia” was in a Columbia Daily Spectator column published on February 5, 1965.

In March the year prior, in 1964, the popular trivia game, Jeopardy made its television debut. The show crowned a witty 26-year-old homemaker with Southern charm as its first-ever champion. Mary Cabell Eubanks won the first official game and unknowingly cemented a spot forever in American pop culture history.

Trivia Loves Tuesdays

In June of 2022, Lamy’s debuted its first Trivia Tuesday with a food and beverage theme. Fitting, we know. Because of its success, we decided that a monthly trivia night all summer long is much needed in this town! We fire up the kitchen, make sure the bar is stocked and give away excellent prizes…like gift cards to No. 5 Bar and Bistro.

If trivia isn’t your thing, we get it. We can’t all be full of worthless knowledge. However, the food, the fun, and the competition are still fun to come and be a part of. Grab your best friends, your significant others or maybe even your secret lovers, and head on down to Lamy’s on Tuesday, August 2nd. After all, history loves company.
