History Loves Wood
Step into Lamy’s sometime this week and ask to see our special wood. Yeah, it may seem an odd request, but we think once you see the magnitude of the one remaining beam left in the floor of the Ox Horn Market, you’ll understand why we like to show it off. These beams had one important job and that was to hold up the water tower that was used to power the sewing machines.
Although the use of elevated water storage tanks has existed since ancient times in various forms, the modern use of water towers for pressurized public water systems developed during the mid-19th century, as steam-pumping became more common, and better pipes that could handle higher pressures were developed.
We no longer have our old water tower, the wood remains over 100 years later. If you’ve visited us, chances are, you walked right past this piece. But, it’s a sight worth viewing and we think it’s best viewed with friends that think giant wood is kind of neat. So, grab a crowd and head into Lamy’s. We hear History Loves Company.
Wood Loves Danny
Did y’all see what we just did there? Danny Wood is an American singer, most known for a popular boy band he is a part of, New Kids On The Block. Familiar? He is also one of the main choreographers of the band. While concerts are finally getting back up in action, you don’t have to wait to jam out to NKOTB (as the cool kids call them). You can pick up a number of their albums right here at Josey Records. It’s the right stuff. Ok…stopping now.
If boy bands are your thing, we got it all. From N’Sync and Backstreet Boys to the older classics like The Beach Boys and Beastie Boys. Basically, we got all the boys here at Josey. Stop on in and grab your favorites.
Danny Loves Italian
It’s true. Danny Wood, the aforementioned member of NKOTB, is a foodie! In fact, he’s got his own Youtube Channel where he cooks up his faves, The WoodWorks. His favorite dish? Italian. That brings us to the Ox Horn Mac and Cheese. Y’all. If you haven’t had this mac, then you need to RUN! With so many options like Buffalo Chicken, Pork Belly Jalapeno, Crab, and Regular, there’s an option for everyone.
They say you can’t finish an entire serving, but I’ve seen a couple prove them wrong. However, we recommend bringing a friend to share the mac with. After all, history loves company.
