Life At Lamys: Downtown with Studio 702

Meet Hannah Hartung, a creative soul who journeyed from the small town of Macon, MO, to plant her roots in Sedalia in 2022. As the proud owner of Studio 702 and Hannah Hartung Photography, she thrives on capturing candid moments and giving back to the community through her work and volunteer efforts.

Living downtown with her significant other, Kendall Shearer, who works at The Local Tap, they immerse themselves in the local scene—whether it’s enjoying a pour-over coffee at Ozark Coffee Company, savoring brunch at No. 5 Bistro and Bar, or strolling through the charming streets of Sedalia.

Hannah’s vision for Studio 702 was born from a passion to create a professional and modern haven for photographers, videographers, and content creators. She wanted to offer a space where they can elevate their craft and pursue their dreams in this ever-changing industry. Knowing the hefty costs of studio space, equipment, and furnishings, she aimed to provide an affordable alternative with all the necessary amenities, empowering local creatives to flourish.

When asked why she chose to move downtown, Hannah shared that she and Kendall found a quaint apartment through a friend. It was the perfect find, and they’re incredibly grateful to have such wonderful landlords who genuinely care about them and their business because this apartment is actually right above their studio!

Living and running a business downtown has countless perks, according to Hannah. They can walk down the street to grab a coffee, enjoy dinner at Fitters or Ivory Grille, and their favorite—brunch at No. 5 Bistro and Bar on Saturdays. While there are occasional downsides like sirens and traffic noise, they appreciate their local law enforcement and first responders who keep the town safe and respond quickly to emergencies.

When asked about her favorite downtown business, Hannah finds it hard to pick just one because they’ve had such wonderful interactions with many business owners and employees. She continues to be amazed by the kindness and generosity of the Sedalia community.

Before meeting Kendall, Hannah was a regular at Lamy’s every Friday night, enjoying meals at the bar and chatting with the friendly regulars and bartenders. Nowadays, they stroll over to Lamy’s about once a month, drawn in by the irresistible call of their brunch.

Their favorite menu item at No. 5 is the biscuit board for two, which they love to indulge in. As for drinks, Kendall is a big fan of anything with gin and blackberries, while Hannah enjoys the Tequila Mockingbird or a chardonnay in the spring and summer, and a dry red in the fall and winter.

Hannah loves Josey’s Books and Records, though she admits she hasn’t finished a book in a while. She particularly enjoys when Lamy’s showcases local musicians at Josey’s, creating an eclectic and unique vibe.

In closing, Hannah and Kendall are thrilled to deepen their connection to Sedalia, eagerly anticipating the creative endeavors that will unfold in their studio space. Their dream is to watch photographers of all skill levels hone their craft and discover their unique style. They are excited for the unforgettable events that will be cherished for a lifetime in their space. Above all, they want everyone to feel embraced at Studio 702, and they look forward to collaborating with others soon!
