Life At Lamy’s: Taylor Mabry

Inside the walls of Lamy’s, there’s a familiar face that’s become a cornerstone at Josey Records–Taylor Mabry.

Growing up surrounded by close family and friends, Taylor’s childhood was steeped in the simple pleasures of small-town living. With three sisters by her side and seven nieces and nephews to keep her on her toes, she learned the value of community and the bonds that tie us together.

As a young adult, Taylor found herself drawn to the vibrant energy of downtown Sedalia. It was here, amidst the historic storefronts and bustling cafes, that she discovered her passion for literature and music at Josey Records.

For over three years now, Taylor has been a familiar face at Josey’s, where she shares her love for books and vinyl with customers from near and far. With a smile that lights up the room and a genuine enthusiasm for her craft, she’s become an integral part of the downtown scene, welcoming visitors with open arms and a kind word.

But Taylor’s contributions to the Sedalia community don’t end there. In her spare time, she’s a regular fixture at local events and gatherings, soaking in the sights and sounds of her beloved hometown. Whether she’s leading worship at Encounter Church or serving up aces on the volleyball courts at Heckart Community Center, she’s always in the thick of things, embracing every opportunity to connect with her community.

And then there’s Taylor’s love for literature—a passion that runs deep in her veins. As a member of a local book club with fellow Lamys native, Emma Heubi, she dives headfirst into the pages of captivating reads, sharing insights and stories with her fellow bookworms. From gripping mysteries to heartwarming tales, she’s always on the lookout for her next literary adventure.

When it comes to her favorite authors, Taylor’s taste is as eclectic as the shelves at Josey’s. Whether she’s lost in the pages of Ruth Ware’s thrilling mysteries or captivated by Kristin Hannah’s poignant tales, she’s always eager to explore new worlds and perspectives. And with a keen eye for devotionals and Bible study resources, she finds solace and inspiration in the written word.

But Taylor’s passions extend beyond the written page to the world of music, where she’s always on the hunt for her next favorite album. From the soul-stirring melodies of Kings of Leon to the indie vibes of Bon Iver, her taste knows no bounds. And with a special fondness for the soulful sounds of Abbie Gamboa, her playlist is as diverse and dynamic as her personality.

When she’s not immersed in the world of books and music, Taylor can often be found exploring the nooks and crannies of downtown Sedalia, uncovering hidden gems, and making memories along the way. From cozy cafes to antique shops, she cherishes every moment spent in her beloved hometown, savoring the simple joys of small-town living.

And when it comes to her favorite spots downtown, Taylor’s eyes light up as she recalls her love for Nostalgia Vintage Marketplace—a place where she’s not just a customer but also a cherished friend. With its eclectic selection of treasures and warm, welcoming atmosphere, it’s become a second home for Taylor, a place where she can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and simply be herself. “It is such a cool place. They keep it very clean and always create gorgeous displays according to each season. Each booth is different from the rest, so there is something for every taste and style. It’s the perfect place for a fun girl’s day out!”

As for her favorite menu item at No. 5, Taylor can’t help but smile as she reminisces about the mouthwatering chicken quesadilla—a dish that never fails to hit the spot. And when it comes to drinks, she’s a fan of anything that pairs well with good company and great conversation, whether it’s a glass of dry white wine, her preferred Prosseco, or No. 5 Bistro and Bar’s signature cocktail: Pink Flash. It’s obvious Taylor has premium taste.

But perhaps the greatest joy in Taylor’s life is the love she shares with her boyfriend, Evan. Despite the miles that separate them, their bond remains strong, a testament to the power of love and commitment. With their two-year anniversary on the horizon, Taylor looks forward to the future with hope and excitement.

With her infectious enthusiasm and unwavering love for her community, Taylor Mabry is more than just a familiar face in downtown Sedalia—she’s a shining example of the magic that happens when small-town pride meets big-hearted hospitality. If you’re out and about, she’d love to help you find your next favorite book or album at Josey Records. Bring the whole family. After all, history loves company.
